The Rector heads this committee. The responsibilities covered are: Parish Nurse, EYG, Pastoral Care, Eucharistic Visitors, and Worship Committee. The Worship Committee includes: choir director, organist, and chairs for Altar Guild, Ushers, Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and Sound.
The duties of the Parish Nurse vary from month to month. She conducts blood pressure checks every other Sunday, prepares an informative bulletin board and piece for the newsletter on important health issues, and sees parishioners in their homes as needed. She will also drive parishioners to doctor visits. She reports directly to the Rector and has a committee of oversight as well.
The EYG is currently combined with the St. Paul’s youth group. While St. Paul’s is taking the lead in program - Journey to Adulthood - parents and other volunteers from St. Christopher’s will take part in the program as needed. We also provide a meal for the group every other week. The EYG needs a chair and committee of two or three more people to coordinate this work and events that we want to do at St. Christopher’s, either combined or by ourselves.
The Pastoral Care Committee is responsible for seeing that meals are provided for parishioners who are in need of this assistance. The Committee consists of a chair and two other persons who will keep a list of people who are willing to cook and deliver food. Twice a year, the committee will invite parishioners to bring servings of casseroles and soup in freezer containers to provide a rapid response pantry.
Eucharistic Visitors should receive training from the diocesan trainers. The Committee is chaired by the Rector and Visitors are sent out at her discretion. Visitors will take a copy of the bulletin and make their visits as soon after the Sunday services as possible. They will record their visits in the Register of Services kept in the vesting room in the Church and report any concerns or needs to the Rector.
The Worship Committee will meet three times a year. It is chaired by the Rector. In addition to preparing for special liturgies, the Committee will actively recruit and train parishioners to participate in the liturgical ministries listed above. Schedules for these ministries will be sent to the Secretary and the Good News Editor for publication.
