Stewardship is about being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts from God. It is more than simply contributing money to the church. It is also about giving time and using talents and volunteering for ministry and mission.
Stewardship is reaching out to build relationships within and outside the church from a perspective of abundance in the face of perceived scarcity. It is to realize and rely on the abundance of God. Stewardship is helping people to trust in God’s generosity. We perform disciplined acts of generosity.
When we give we have the opportunity to change the lives of others. Abundant opportunities at St. Christopher’s are in such things as community ministry (wheelchair ramps, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, new ministries such as food for kids, shoeboxes, stockings, coats, etc.). These ministries need financial support and volunteerism.
Through stewardship we support our church so that we can extend our gifts from God to others through Christian service and mission.
The Stewardship Committee should convey to our parishioners the opportunities for service in our church and liaison with other committees such as finance and budget, parish ministry, hospitality, community ministry, grounds, formation, outreach, etc.
